Swift Sports Organization: From impact to institutional readiness

Featured Before It Breaks Scope, deliverables and submission requirements for a short-term storytelling assignment. Publication Swift Sports Organization: From impact to institutional readiness Impact Lab Case Study Swift Sports Organization (SSO) is a registered community-based organization in Kazo, Wakiso District, Uganda, founded in 2018. It works through grassroots sport and community programs, including four sports clubs, a women’s literacy class, an annual December festival and orphan support. The organization is run by a five-person volunteer team and currently represents 525+ members, with more than 700 people trained through its programs. Despite its program experience and community reach, SSO had not yet developed the communications and fundraising infrastructure needed to engage institutional funders. Its materials lacked consistency, its impact information needed to be reconciled and organized, and it did not have a repeatable process for preparing grant applications. As the first engagement under Capricorn Impact Lab, we worked with SSO pro bono in 2026 across communications, fundraising readiness and capability building. The engagement included a brand and identity system, communications strategy and calendar, fact sheet, donor pitch deck, grant-readiness workbook, grant application, impact-document audit and a photo permission and consent practice. The work was designed around the organization’s actual capacity: a five-person volunteer team that needed to be able to maintain the system independently. The result was a more credible and funder-ready organization, with a repeatable approach to future grant applications and no ongoing dependence on Capricorn.
